Carrying Forward the Spirit of Ramadan: ahlibank Organizes Iftar at the Royal Hospital’s Pediatric Oncology Ward

As part of its ongoing social outreach efforts, ahlibank, through its corporate social responsibility wing, ahli Cares, hosted a community Iftar at the Pediatric Oncology Ward of Royal Hospital. The initiative is part of a series of Ramadan activities undertaken by the bank during its Ramadan Campaign, reflecting a people-centric approach grounded in compassion and responsibility.

Commenting on the initiative, Jumana Al Hashmi, AGM – Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at ahlibank, said, “Engaging with children and their families within a healthcare setting offers a powerful reminder of the resilience that coexists with vulnerability. It also provides an opportunity to acknowledge the medical teams whose commitment extends well beyond clinical responsibility, offering daily reassurance and support to families. Through initiatives such as this, we seek to reaffirm our role as an institution that stands alongside the community, particularly in moments that call for empathy, encouragement, and shared humanity.”

The initiative was dedicated to children receiving treatment at the Pediatric Oncology Ward, alongside their parents and primary caregivers, as well as the medical professionals who support them throughout the course of care. Beyond the Iftar, the program centered on simple yet meaningful interactions, including fun engagement activities among the children and the ahli cares team and the distribution of gifts. All activities were planned in close coordination with the hospital’s medical teams to ensure patient wellbeing and full alignment with medical protocols and ward guidelines. The program was designed to offer families a shared moment outside the demands of routine care and to help uplift morale. In total, the initiative reached more than 25 pediatric patients, along with their parents and primary caregivers, and members of the ward’s medical faculty.

On-ground delivery of the initiative was further supported by the Sanubader team, a group of specialists who work in close collaboration with medical institutions such as the Royal Hospital dedicated to patients’ service. This partnership complemented the hospital’s oversight, enabling smooth execution in line with institutional requirements, while creating opportunities for ahlibank employees to engage directly in initiatives that respond to tangible community needs.

As a purpose-led institution, ahlibank fosters a culture of volunteerism anchored in care, dignity, and social accountability. This ethos, embedded across the organization, empowers employees to contribute in ways that are intentional, considered, and closely connected to the communities they serve.

ahlibank continues to advance its CSR agenda in a manner that is thoughtful, grounded, and impact-led. In doing so, the bank further reinforces its long-standing commitment to contributing positively to society beyond the realm of banking, guided by a sustained focus on relevance, responsibility, and enduring community partnership.
